Are you getting enough fluids?
Your body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because your body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it's important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water.
But many of us find it difficult to drink water, especially when it is colder. Remember, if you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated, so we need to keep the fluids going in all day to ensure you don’t get to the thirsty stage.
Here are some tips to get the fluids in.
Get a 1 litre water bottle - and make sure you drink one full bottle by lunch time, then a second full bottle by bed time. This will mean you have had 8 glasses (cups) of water for the day.
Mark your water bottle with time increments - start at the top and mark down 9am, then 10am, 11am and midday - this will allow you to track if your progress during the day.
Add other fluids apart from water including green or herbal teas.
Try drinking sparkling water with some lemon juice or cold infusion teabags to add flavour - try to stay away from cordials as they contain sugars.
Place your water bottle on your desk where you see it and remember to take regular sips of water
