Can I train after having my baby?

The answer is YES!! Once you have your doctor’s clearance (usually around the 6-week mark), you can start exercising again - but it is important to start slowly and do specific postnatal approved movements alongside a coach who understands your postnatal body.

Obviously walking and taking the baby out in the pram is a great way to get moving again, and you also get out of the house, spend some time with the baby and maybe even meet up with a friend or another new mum for a chat. But if you want to speed up your results, doing postnatal movements can tone, define, boost your metabolism, and burn fat.

Did you know that I am a qualified pre and post-natal trainer as well as a Women’s Health and Performance Coach? I encourage new mums to get moving again to help with both physical and mental health.

There are many benefits of training after having your baby, including:

  • Faster healing and recovery from birth

  • Increased energy to cope with new motherhood

  • Reduced stress

  • Reduced risk of depression

  • Faster return to pre-pregnancy shape and fitness

  • Improved muscle strength

  • Social interaction with other mums

  • Increased psychological well being

  • Reduced body aches and pains

  • Bonding time with baby

Each year I run specific Mums & Bubs classes, and while these are not running, new mums are encouraged to join my regular morning classes which include postnatal modifications for the new mums. And, because all sessions are run LIVE Online, you can do them at home, no need to wake the baby or find a carer, and you can train safely knowing that I am watching you and guiding you on movement for your individual body.
