One size does not fit all

I recently had a consultation with a lovely “older” lady who was wanting to get in shape and feel healthy in her older years. She mentioned that she had recently been to a bootcamp, which included many younger clients. One of the exercises was flipping tractor tyres, and yes, the trainer made her do it, even though it was beyond her ability and way too heavy for her.

I cringe when I hear stories like this - trainers who train everyone the same. Not only is it dangerous to the clients who is not capable of doing the exercise, but it puts them off exercise altogether thinking that if this is the only way to get healthy, then they can’t do it.

Being in a group class is no excuse for treating everyone the same. Every body is different, with different niggles, age, restrictions, injuries or strength. So why do some trainers treat the session as a one size fits all?

One thing I pride myself on is treating every client as an individual. Programming my sessions always takes into account their stage of life, history of injuries as well as achieving their end goal. My group sessions always have alternatives for those with lower body niggles, wrist issues, back problems or older population needing low impact versions.

My Women’s Health & Performance Program is coming soon - and this goes an extra step in training women according to their monthly hormonal levels as well as hormonal stages of life. It also works closely with each female to identify their external physiological stresses which could be blocking their ability to get results and causing an unhealthy body.

Feel free to contact me to find out more on how I can get you results as an individual, or on my Women’s Health program. Stay healthy and happy :)
